An exploration into garment pattern drafting

Designed as a versatile, comfortable and stylish garment perfect for spring biking, this jacket focuses on keeping you warm and protected from the wind and rain while not having to opt for over the top technical clothing.

  • My initial sketches focused on having a concentrated section of quilted windproof fabric on the chest to allow for active use without overheating.

  • First iteration of my block pattern to work from.

  • The first block had a very wide and awkward collar and very long sleeves.

  • Initial cutting of final pattern

  • the side panels are made up of a thin and stretchy fabric that allows for a comfortable and breathable fit while biking.

  • The in-seam zipper was a challenge at first due to the variation in fabric types but it worked very well in the end.
