Retired Climbing Rope Exploration

Climbing Rope is very commonly found in Vancouver and Squamish due to the world class climbing that can be found in the area. As a climber myself, climbing ropes of all colors and patterns have kept me safe and allowed me to explore the granite cracks safely but at some point, these ropes have to be retired.

This led me to begin exploring and testing retired climbing rope as a material, with the goal of giving it a second life beyond its intended use. Over time, it has become a core component of my design practice. The images below reflect both my growth as a designer and the ways climbing rope has remained a constant thread throughout that journey.
